What's a better than average OBDII reader?

I just recieved my "new" mtg2500 scanner today. It came with the Mercedes cartridge and a bunch of adapters for the benz cars.

It also came with the personality keys.

How do I know which key to use?

The unit did not come with a training manual - how did you learn to use yours?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
