Please Help!

Ok , so it's 5 degrees Far. here in St Louis,Mo. this morning and I go out to start-up the car and let her warm up a few minutes B4 I leave and I put the key in the ignition and it wont turn.. It's like it is locked up. I tried turning the steering wheel each direction and I still can't get the Key to turn in either direction. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, do you have any ideas on what to do?
I am at a loss and very confused.
Jeff

Switch can be a problem

If you haven't had any previous difficulty it might be due to a worn ignition switch plus the very cold weather. Do you have another key that could be used. Sometimes that will solve the problem. Don't force the key. If it won't turn be cool a do a couple of things. One, you could warm up the switch with a hair dryer. Also, warm up the key as much as you can, with the hair dryer, a candle or lighter. If all that fails, try vibrating the switch with an electric razor while gently trying to turn the key. If all that fails, and probably even if you can get it to turn, you are due for a new ignition switch. Diesel Giant over in the diesel section has a nice pictorial on how to change the ignition switch. All the Benz switches are about the same.

locked switch

happened on my 190e 2.6, I read somewhere to jack up front end to take weight off the wheels then try and shake the steering wheel as you turn the key, has worked for some, if works for you, immediately replace ing. switch. Good luck.
