Fuel System Cleaner

Thinking of pouring in a bottle of STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner into a full tank of gas and drive it around until tank isready for another fill-up before I do my oil change on my 1990 190E 2.6.

How does M-B react to these fuel additives? Do you M-B techies recommend adding fuel system cleaners or gas treatment to M-B? Thanks.

Do you want my advice? Put 5 naphthalene balls in a full tank and drive, then when you use all of it, reput another 5 balls, then the same another 5 balls. Afther that you will get the cleanest paths. I tried it myself on all of the cars mentions on my signature.

I think Mr. dmorrison means Chevron Techron. http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/additives/concentrate_plus.shtml

Nearly everyone here can give testimonials to the benefits of using cleaners like Techron regularly. They include smoother idle, reduced pinging, better economy and more power. Some have even gotten emissions reduced after an "Italian tuneup" with a bottle of the stuff. I put a bottle of gumout in my Jeep, and got 17.5MPG on my most recent all-highway tankful - an increase of over 2MPG highway!.

It won't hurt anything, and will probably help a lot - cleans your valves, your injectors, and more. Report back with your results!

just try any of the known or common brand to add on your gas tank, your driving a Benz, would a loose change for a bottle of valve cleaner hurt? Don't be discourage by some less or missinformed individuals.

Have been using Chevron Techron for years on various vehicles. Recommended by MB. The bottles of "Saturn" fuel sytem cleaner sold by Saturn Saab dealers in Canada was rebaged Techron.

Using any one of these brands of gasoline http://www.toptiergas.com/ on a regular basis should take care of any engine problems. My 2 cents.

I use Techron. No complaints so far. Mechanics I know swear by BG. Not sure there's a lot of difference between them.
