yes...seen it numerous times. most recently in a 722.6 that literally ate itself to death. filter and pan full of chunks of metal. car had about 110,000 miles and customer never had the transmission serviced. in this case, the MBZ "lifetime" fluid's life ended at 110,000 miles. transmission sounded like it had marbles floating around in it but amazingly no codes were thrown and the car still moved.

reman transmission from the dealer; about $5000; new was closer to $10,000. (the remans don't have a torque converter drain either.)

lifetime fluid or not, i say service those transmissions!
