Before I take it to the shop....electrical problem??

Hey everyone,

So my car has been running like a champ. Averaging 16mpg though (when I'm good on the speed) is killing me, but I knew she had a drinking problem when I fell in love.

Anyway, over the past few weeks I've noticed some intermittent "electrical" problems.... Console light blinking on and off for no reason, cigarette lighter not working sometimes, brake pad sensor coming on for no reason, and then today she started just dying out. Like it wasn't getting any gas through the distributor or something. She drives fine for a bit and then just dies out. I can re-start her after a few tries and keep going, but its very uncomforting to be on the freeway and suddenly lose power.

Can anyone think of something I could try before taking her to the shop? I admit I don't know much about this, so all I could think was to check the OVP, which I did. Fuse is fine (although its a 10amp), and no condensation.

Incidentally, she has a relatively new fuel distributor, and new injectors and seals.

Does this sound like anything familiar to anyone, or should I just drop her off at the shop and hope for the best?

Any ideas would be appreciated....

Thanks,
Craig

Try replace OVP first if I were you. 16MPG is what it will get. Normal.

Is your voltage regulator in the alternator working? Not enough and you will discharge the battery. You need 12 volts to keep the fuel injection computer operating.
