420sel Alarm

Do all 1986 420sel's have a factory alarm. How do you tell if you have one or had one? I tried the open the door from the inside trick and nothin.

I have one and its really loud. Several ways to test it out. First one, open the hood and close it not latching it all the way, activate the alarm then try opening the hood again. you can do the same thing with one of the doors, just close it alittle activate the alarm then go back and try to open the door using the key. Don't do this on a full bladder.

The alarms are annoying on these cars....most of them were or have been disconnected over the years.
They don't seem to "de-activate" quickly enough, so when you open the door - the alarm goes off......

They are easy to test....roll down a window, lock car with master key, then reach in window and pull up lock and open door.....horn and lights....

My wife has a 420sel and I have had some trouble with the alarm system,At times you will unlock the doors and if you have a slow lock and one opens the a door before all are unlocked this horn and flashing lights go off it is some what embarrassing,I found that the trunk in her car is the most sticky spot so now I unlock the car from the trunk.Your po may have had a similar problem and unplugged the unit.
