Installing a new driver's side mirror

Hi all!

I own a 1990 190E 2.6. Everything on the car is great except my driver's side mirror is broken. I have heard great things about this website so I have decided to purchase a replacement from this website. I have only one question.

Here is the link to the mirror I will be buying
http://preview.tinyurl.com/2hmosr (don't worry, its to this site)

Now, this mirror does not come with the back cover. My question is this: can I take the back cover off my current mirror (as this specific part of it is undamaged) and attach it to the new one?

If this will not work, does anyone know where I can purchase a backplate (not on eBay)?

If anyone requires any additional information, don't hesitate to ask

Thanks,
matrixtna

P.S.: If this is the wrong section to post this question in, sorry.

Hello,

If you go to www.alldata.com you can buy the online manuel 14.95 if I remember correctly and it will give you complete instructions with photo. I looked my car up and it was very detailed.

Good luck!

thanks for the website, but that's not quite what I need. I don't think I will have a problem removing and installing the mirror, but I am not sure if I can take the back plate off my current, broken, mirror and use it on the new one.

That is all I need answered.

Thanks
