W210 instrument cluster removal?

is the cluster removed on the W210 by simply pulling on the cluster itself? I tried to pull REALLY hard, i mean hard enough that if i pulled any harder the clear plastic would crack. but i couldnt remove the cluster.. please help

It pulls out, but you're supposed to use the extractor hooks (A140 589 02 33 00)

Yeah, get a set of the hooks...they are not expensive (I think the dealer charged me about $10-$15) and the cluster pops right out. Don't risk breaking it by pulling on the front.

With the number of W210s you now own, it's time you got the service DVD from Mercedes.

Unlike BMW, Mercedes is quite willing and happy to provide lots of information on servicing its cars.

The DVD contains repair procedures, service bulletins, dealer technical bulletins, electrical diagrams, videos of various procedures, etc. When special tools are required, there's an illustration of the tool and its part number is indicated--you can order the tools from your dealer and several other sources.

Dealer or 1.800.for.merc for the DVD.

You can supplement this with a $20/year subscription to the Electronic Parts Catalog, which provides illustrated parts breakdowns and part numbers.
