Doing 202 front rotors/pads - forgot my manual and out of town OOOPS! need specs
I am a LOSER! I came to a friend's house and we are doing my brakes tomorrow, and I forgot my manual. I have to replace rotor set-screws, I know that much. What are the torque specs? What other crucial torque info/etc do I need to know? I assume the basics are pretty straightforward

Just did this last weekend with my 2000 C280. These are the numbers I used from the Haynes manual that covers 1993-2000 C180, C200,C220, C230, C250.
Brake wear pad sensor bolt, front Nm/ft.lb 30/22 Brake disc retaining screw 10/7 Caliper bolts to steering knuckle 115/85 Guide pin bolts 25/18 My change was a snap. Give your new rotors a good scrub with brake cleaner and fine steel wool. My rotors at 50m came off with no problem. I had to pound the rotors off my 300CE. One tip, leave inner pad on and use your caliper spreader against pad to push back piston. And monitor your brake fluid level when doing this. glenmore 1991 300CE 2000 C280 1990 LS400 |

thanks....went pretty well once we figured out the bolt arrangement and that you don't remove what looked to be slider bolts (?) at the top of the calipers. We also didn't have to remove any pad sensor screws as the sensors just popped in and out, which appeared to be the proper way to remove and reinstall them (?)
The REAL issue was rotors that had been on the car for 10 years and 150k miles.....wow! Had to go to the store for a bigger hammer and a can of "PB" something or other.....labelled as "the original bolt and nut buster" - lol. Whatevr it was, it worked, ate right through the rust (and hopefully NOT the hub). In retrospect we should have scrubbed the coating off the rotors, but it seems to be burning off. Drove it around last night and all seems fine. Took maybe 4 hours, but I think if we had known the procedure and gotchas from the beginning, it's a 2 hour job tops. The dealer wanted $700 but I estimate with all the parts, including the hammer and liquid wrench, I got out for under $300
