I have a 1990 260e. When starting from cold there is a clatter from the top end for 2/3 seconds. In about 1 0f 10 cold starts a lighter tapping noise can be heard for 10/15 seconds which stops suddenly. It also misfires for 2/3 seconds. I use 10/40 oil which is changed regularly. Any help would be much appreciated.

You might start by at least stating the mileage.
