Bad Acceleration on 80 450sl
OK,
I've got my cam timing correct, no exhaust issues as far as plugged pre-cats, and my timing is set at 6BTDC. I've got 185psi across the board and the car still feels very sluggish. I am not getting what I would call great throttle response. I floor it and the car gradually comes up to speed and rpm's. If I go to floor it from a stop it is really un-impressive. Any ideas? I'm wondering if the vacuum advance isn't working or if I've got vacuum routing issues. I followed the diagram under the hood from the factory which is pretty self-explanatory. What might be the top three things to check that usually cause sluggish performance in these cars? I'm going to hook a vacuum pump up to my advance port on the distributor when I get into work to make sure it functions, but I'm getting thin on ideas and things to check. Thanks. |

Have you checked cap/rotor/wires?
These cars are pretty sensitive when the sparks get weak - power and acceleration go way down. What spark plugs are you using? Have you checked injectors/fuel distributor? Is it more of a hesitation when you accelerate or does it just not do anything??? |
