Hi,
I just dropped off my '97 E320 to MB dealer in NY for a few repairs. Tranny, head gasket, belt tensioner, power window switch and more... I have extended warranty coverage from "warrantybynet" Hmmm... This will be my first experience with them, and I'm sure the bill will be at least close to 5G's. Has anyone had any "bad" experience using outside warranty company ? Anyone there who dealt with http://www.warrantybynet.com ???

You have to be well versed in "selling" the work to the warranty company or the customer gets killed. They will refuse work if you say ONE work incorrectly.

BUT, I do like the extended warranty. It does provide protection where needed in most cases.

I have already done a dozen or so evap cores this year. The average cost is greater than 2,5oo dollars. Most of my customers have the warranty and they get out for 400...

I work for an insurance company that reinsures a variety of auto extended warranty companies. When you take your car in for warranty work be sure to take it to a shop that does a lot of warranty work. If the shop doesn't set the claim up right, you are the one that will pay for their mistake. Also, never tell the warranty company that the problem has been going on for a while. Always tell them that you noticed the problem and you took to a repair facilaty right away. If they refuse to pay do not waste your time arguing with the adjuster. Tell them you are going to give it to your lawyer to review. Once you tell them that your claim will be given special attention and will usualy be paid even if it was previously denied. We always prefer to avoid litigation because it almost always ends up costing more.

rule 1: make sure you know what is covered and not covered in your contract!

rule 2: make sure you failure is covered. "Example: rust is not covered" VERY IMPORTANT!

rule 3: never argue with an adjuster. You won't win and the threats of a lawyer don't work! Go to the insurance commissioner of your State. THAT WORKS EVERY TIME AND DOESN'T COST YOU MONEY

NOTE: Many extended warranty companies send used parts such as engines and transmissions Read as the "PARTS OF LIKE KIND and QUALITY" clause. It is Legal and your only option is to upgrade by paying the difference in the cost of the parts.

The most problem you will have is and independent inspector may come out to have the repairer show him the failures. If the r/f does not demonstrate the failure properly you get no coverage!

I agree that filing a complaint with your state's department of insurance and the bbb is a great idea if you run into a problem.
