M103 2.6 to 3.0 swap
Team-
I'm considering finding good used engine for my 91 W124 2.6. Seeing as there appear to be more 3 liters available and assuming that the trans would have swap with it, is swapping 3.0 and trans into the car easily done? Body and interior are solid 8's..... If I'm gonna do all that work and spend the money (which is still an IF at this point), at least I'd have more torque to show for it........ Comments please?? Marc G. |

i think maybe the rear end ratio is different, so if you dont change that you will get significantly worse gas mileage. great acceleration though.
as it is the 3.0 gets about the same mileage as the 2.6 because it carries the higher ratio. not 100% sure but pretty sure this is the case. tom w

it's an easy swap.do change the trans as well.you get a 722.3 instead of a 722.4 you will need the f.i. computer i believe.i did this in a 201 body and it was a little more tricky but still easy.
