Question WEIRD NOISES Help

Hello...evertime I get on the gas or off the gas (no matter how much input) I hear a faint 'drum roll' sound for 1 second durration, comming from deep in the dash. Same sound whether I get on the gas or off the gas. What is it...sounds faint but present. Is it the electronic throtle body.

The car runs fine...so far??
PS..the car is a 6spd manual...the sound only happens when in gear...not idle.

Check If This Is A Drowning Sound Between 1,000 - 2,000 Rpm, And If So...does The Car Buck As Well...this Can Be A Transmission Issue Where You Have Coolant Mixed Into The Transmission Through A Bad Radiator. You Might Have A Tech Check It Out To Verify. THIS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ONLY 722.6.

Camshaft adjuster noisy?

Sounds to me like your camshaft adjuster is noisy. Without hearing it though, it's hard to say.

Naaa..its not mechanical sound..its electrical...sounds like a muted sound similar to the ESP mechanism kicking in when the tail slides out and it tries to reign it under control. And Ihad the trany (manual) tuned up by MB and re-oiled etc last year...so its not that...the car runs fine...other then that...

Sorry to get a little off topic but what is a manual tranny tune up?
Thanks, Dan

If it sounds like the ESP then maybe you should look there. You probably wouldn't notice and performance degradation if the ESP is activated momentarily. Either that, or you drove to close to a virus infected WI-FI network and picked up a bug.
