Replacing Door Check on 190E
My car is a 1989 190E 2.6. The door check has quit "Checking". I bought a replacement from Phil. In order to get the old check out, I think that the inside door panel has to be lifted up. This car has electric switches on the door panel that move the seat back and forth. Will those switches be in the way if the door panel is moved?
I would appreciate any comments on how the door panel should be moved. Tom Cowles, Inverness, FL |

Your car will be quite similar the 124 in this article. The 201 uses the same type of clips and the door handle disassembly is the same. The only difference will be in the mirror assembly removal - on the 201 (with a manual drivers mirror) there is a small removable piece of plastic on the back side of the adjustment handle and after that is removed I believe that black plastic piece is just clipped in.
