E420 water pump removal
Is there anyway possible to remove the water pump on M119 without removing the harmonic balancer. I have the last bolt to remove that is located at the bottom of the water pump. This bolt is slightly covered by the harmonic balancer.
Any suggestion on how to remove that bolt. |

i had the remove the harmonic balancer to get the all the bolts. It is not hard, just the 5 bolts that hold the balancer to the crank shaft. you don't need to remove the big crank bolt in the center. i rented a pulley puller to pull it out. however, please a piece of sheetrock or at least cardboard in front of your ac radiator. mine crank pulley shot out and hit the sheetrock hard, no damage to the radiator though. Mark the balancer and the crank pulley, the 5 bolts are not equally space.

I marked the harmonic balancer before I removed it; however, I did not mark the crank pulley. As I begin to reinstall the harmonic balancer, I notice that after I cleaned the crank pulley that it had a small square piece of metal weld to it.
Does the crank pulley need to be align a certain way according to the harmonic balancer. Because I did not mark it. Do I need to worry about the crank pulley as long as it align up with the screw holes? |
