Steve,
I see many good tips on how to prevent this from happening again. Also, I see I have been using the wrong terms in describing what has been done by the dealership. It was the evaporator that was changed because they tore apart the entire dash and center console. They also indicate they cleaned the evap pan while in there. I think I said it was the condenser, which is in the engine compartment. My mistake. My 560 dumps water in the garage after driving but I do not recall that happening with the 350. I thought that was an advantage or feature of this model and that it dumps the water, after a few miles, during the next start-up. I guess it would be described as a holding pan or tank. |

There should be two drains.....
from the evaporator case to the outside on the bottom of the car. If the A/C is run for anytime at all in FL, water will come out of those because the evaporator is acting as a de-humidifier.

you can simply turn off the A/C but leave the fan on or at least get out of the recirculate mode) 2-3 minutes before shutting off the car, to get some fresh air and dry things out a bit before shutdown. Pick up a disinfectant that you can spray into the inside air intake in the passenger side footwell with the A/C on in recirculate mode. Spray lysol where the fresh air enters the A/C system.
Another tip: See to it that all parts inside the car are always dry. That's why I kept all my Mercedes 240D parts such as carpets dry at all times to avoid musty smell inside the car. |
