560SL Hard Top Defrost

87 560 SL Hard top defrost is not working.
No light on switch, no power at socket. Acting like a bad (dirty) switch.
Can anyone tell me how to remove wood trim around the switch to check wires? You don't just pry it off do you???

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Pull the ashtray, take out the two screws behind said tray, the look up, you'll see two more screws..remove those.

Prying off the wood will result in a 400+$ mistake.

Sorry...the wood above the radio. It contains the defrost, antenna and domelight switches.

Thanks

The switches just pull straight out. I like to push them from behind by removing the radio which will provide access to the back. Its hard to get a good grip from the front.

That's what was/am talking about.

Pulling them out from the front can be difficult and if done improperly will again ruin very expensive piece of wood.
