Resurfacing w126 front rotors questions
Do I have to remove the hub that attaches to the rotor in order for it to be resurface? They have some groove on them.
Thanks, John |

Do not even consider having your rotors re-surfaced. Not a good idea on a MB.
Get new rotors, they are cheap. Buy only ATE, Balo, or the genuine article from the dealer. Do not buy some cheapo Chinese junk rotor. Removing and replacing rotors is simple, but you need some tools and instructions typically found in the factory manual. No the hub doesn't get removed as it's not actually attached to the rotor. You do have to know how to remove the brake caliper. You also need to replace the brake pads when replacing the rotors. Your existing pads have grooves that fit in the grooves of your worn out rotors. Do not think about re-using those old pads. Might be best to take the car to a reliable MB independently owned shop and pay to have them replaced. Probably not the answer you wanted, but hey, your life can depend on your brakes! Steve |

unless of course they are on the car, with wheels and tires and your going down the road,,, then and only then can the rotors turn.

I was thinking the same question for my car. I put on Brembo rotors a while ago. They are OK when cold but start to pulsate when they warm up. Are they just junk that should be replaced?

If it was a warped rotor, wouldn't they pulstae whether cold or hot, and not just one or the other?

commercial/consumer grade Brembo bits are crap..
Also, one more nod for Not turning brake rotors... You'll bring them down beyond the minimum spec... Don't go cheap on brakes..it's not worth it on a multitude of levels.. Jonathan

Very correct, the rotors need to be replaced and not resurfaced for these cars. I like the ATE ones, they are good.
