Is it true that AMG 1993 comes on 500SE not 500SEL?
I posted before that I was looking for an S600 1996~1999, I found one S600 1999 Gulf specifications but it was about 22000$. I found another car 500SE 1993 true AMG not only AMG kit. The speedometer top speed is 300KM/H. The engine is AMG as well and the AMG deed is there. The initial price is about 7250$. I can tell that the car is in good condition (not excellent). Do you recommend me guys to go for it? I like the long SEL not the short SE. But it's AMG and I drove it, it's so similar to the one I drove and was 600SEL 1992.

I've never seen or heard of one. When MB bought AMG in 1991, they demanded that all customizers in the US stop what they were doing. I assumed they did the same in Europe, hence a w140 AMG would have to be done by the factory, which at that time was under MB rule. Perhaps it was done, but probably not often. If the docs are there and the docs aren't forged, then that's a rare car.

Yeah, and what I'm saying is a ture AMG, that means that the AMG modifications have been made by Mercedes factory in Germany.
The car was imported from Japan.

The W140 AMG was available also in part "ala-carte". The complete take over of AMG was around 1993/1994... but I've seen the W140 get parts purchased in accesory form, not a factory AMG-Mercedes form. I've seen rear tables as well for the W140.. something the factory did not do. There are plenty of these W140 AMG's available in Japan. They shared the same AMG engines that were available on the 500SL AMG's at the time. The 500E (same time period) also were available tuned by the semi-private AMG company at the time.

Thank you guys for the reply, but my question did not answered yet.
Is it true that AMG 1993 comes on 500SE not 500SEL?

I think you missed the answer. Let me see if I can clarify.
In 1993, you could buy a 500SE or a 500SEL. AMG never built an MB-sponsored 500SE or 500SEL in 1993. However, a customer could take their 500SE or 500SEL to AMG and get it tuned. Therefore, it's possible that a 1993 AMG with the 140 body style could have been a 500SE or a 500SEL, because the car would have been brought to AMG by the customer, and the customer can get whatever car he wants modified by AMG (within reason).

I can't recommend anything - it all depends on condition (mechanical, exterior, interior), history, documentation, and mileage. I always chase low-mileage excellent examples, many others chase well-treated high-mileage cars that need fixing up. To each their own and I don't know enough about you to answer that question for you.
However, if I were in your shoes I'd certainly go look at it and call it a contender, from there, the factors above come into play. Good luck - you can always post more about it, heavy on the details, and perhaps show some pics, and you can probably get more opinions than just mine.

Do you know what AMG did to "massage" the engine? What about changes to the exhaust, suspension, and braking? I think I'd want to know these things in helping me to determine the value above and beyond the basic overall condition of the car.

Thanks a lot.
Hopefully I'm going to the AMG car today at my friend's garage. I'll let you know about it.

Hi again guys. We got the car inspected and here are the results:
1. The car had a front little accident that defected both radiators (AC/Water). 2. ASR bulb is not functioning (Maybe bulb or they disconnected it manually due to a problem with ASR). 3. Rear seats is electrically adjustable but not functioning. 4. The engine wiring harness needs to be replaced. (I guess around one million $$$$$$$). 5. For a psychologically resone I did not like the seller. 6. Poor AC cold. (Reasons may vary). So I decided to not buy it. Thank you a lot for your concern : ))..

In short - accident, electrical, electrical, electrical, bad Seller. I understand - a crappy Seller can make want to get away from a deal real fast.
You probably made the right decision.
