console removal 300e 2.8
1993 300e 2.8
My driver's window is jammed and the switch needs to be checked. How do I remove the center console? One of the prior posts dealing with 124 console removal mentioned a screw removal located in the console box. I checked and there is no screw. The box is plastic covered with what appears to be lined with felt. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any help is appreciated. |

From somewhat distant memory only, pull up the felt at the very front and you will see the screw.

Actually, you first need to remove two phillips screws in the front of the console box first. The console lining is black and so are the screws, so it may be a bit hard to see them.
Once those are removed, the box can be lifted out of the way. Only THEN can you see the single phillips screw that holds the console wood panel in place. Once that screw is removed, then you can lift the wood panel up and out...SLOWLY! You have a shifter bezel and wiring. If you're like me and had a large Slurpee dumped there in years gone by, it might be a bit sticky down there!
