Insane backwards climate control '98 210.

No,I wasn't drunk...Yesterday on my way back from Brooklyn I shut the climate control off, completely! when the fan decides to come on full blast,on it's own with a blank LCD screen! So I turn it on auto and manipulate the fan speed manually.......when the screen indicates LO the fan is high, when I push it to HIGH it is low!! I didn't have time to screw with it but when I arrived home I shut the car off, pulled the smart key the fan went on full blast!!!put the key in,restarted the car and it seemed to reset itself.

What do I have here? faulty regulator?bad climate control unit? Anybody hear of this????

Interesting article. I especially like the images of the control panel which bare an amazing resemblance to another article: http://www.continentalimports.com/ser_ic40142.html (BTW the chart with the actual value description is the link labeled "chart 1" in the article)

The author somehow doesn't think the actual values above 8 have much use but unfortunately in this case, that is the worst of advice. In your case you need to view item #10 blower control voltage! It should be from about .8v to 6v from minimum blowewr to max. One can view the numbers as the blower speed buttons are run up and down to tell whether the the control panel thinks it is in control. The actual story will be found at the blower regulator by testing the actual voltage the controller is sending. If your ignition is off no voltage should be coming from the controller. If that is so and the blower is running you have one of the many ways the regulator fails!

Unfortunately based on the year of your car the blower regulator has been changed and requires a new blower and mounting bracket also. We use a modified harness on the improved Behr regulator to avoid replacing the blower and hardware.
