Differences in versions of Pressure Regulators (W124)

Hello everyone,

A quick question please - is anyone aware if there are technical differences between the original Fuel Pressure Regulator for the W124's which were black coloured (now NLA), versus the new gray coloured one which includes an adapter cable?

Seems to me the grey version is calibrated differently or something as it robs my 230E of a lot of torque <2,000rpm to the extent it can no longer manage to start off in second gear (probably a good thing some may argue) but the whole car is generally (even) more lethargic.

Could it be the 'newer' grey version is more emissions friendly?

Thanking you in advance.

Regards, TC.
