It's a pretty easy DIY (if it's the part I'm thinking of) but the dealer should be more than capable of repairing it.

I think his question is whether a dealer would take and fix older cars, not whether they have the skills to do so.

Why not look for a relaible indy in your area?

You will save a ton of money and probably get better attention.

do a search here for a good indy in your area.

Good luck!

I would think that any MB dealer would accept any MB to work on. With a 1985, finding a tech who knows what he's doing is easy. If you took in a Pagoda, then you'd have to hope for the old guy who used to work on them.

You're better off with an independant - a good one. My indy can work on all MBs from the 60's forward because he's been in business for that long.

Not any dealer will. In fact, there was a thread around here about that a while back. When I was in Mississippi around a year ago, I called the local dealer about an oil change on my 94 SL320. The service adviser told me they don't work on cars over ten years old. Your mileage may vary on this one.
