I have Yet To Wein Mine

Brother of The Benz, benz jamin
My 1987 W124030 (300E) with 175,500 miles and still with a virgin engine,has yet to get 29mpg.
I have made numerous modifications to get 28.9mpg but can't and havn't made the 30mpg.
Typically I get 26-27 at 80-90mph.
If I drive 65-70mph I get the same mileage.
So I drive 80 if I can.
My city mileage is consistant at 17-18.5mpg using premium fuel(93 oct) and 2 oz of Red Line S1-L additive per fillup.

upper 20's

Diesels are the best when it comes to mileage. The old VW Rabbit diesels got over 50 mpg.

I see a 28.9 ! after carefull records my 81 sd gets 28.7 overall, not bad for a 20 year old car that weighs near 2
tons,is comfy as a London mens club, smooth as a limo on the hiway and out handles my old (and sold) 912 on a gravel road. And still gets admiring looks in the Safeway parking lot.......

Wm. Rogers gets 28.9 mpg?

Brother of The Benz, William
Wow would I like to get mileage near what you get.
If has to be a coker 300SD.
Not only do you compression ignition engine drivers get better mileage, but your engines last longer with less maintenance and your fuel costs less too!
My 300E with all kinds of mods averaged 19.9 mpg for the calender year 2000.
I have to buy the high priced spread and change sparks plugs too.
Oh well we can't always have the best!
