Replaced Ignition Switch, now won't shift

Hey Guys,

94 C220 replaced ignition tumbler, lock, the works. Now the car when I start it has an SRS light and will not shift out of park. It had no light before and would shift at least with key on.

It is worth noting that when I replaced the ignition lock cylinder there is a wire that slides via a bracket onto the cylinder. One side hooks to a clear wire and the other side I have no idea where it came from. So that is not hooked up, could that be my problem and does anyone know where it goes?

Thanks, wife has a very very ill mother and needs to go see her ASAP, any help is truly appreciated.

There is a BLUE plastic "cam" that goes between the steering lock & switch...if it isn't there OR installed incorrectly you won't be able to get the shifter out of park.

yes I think I know the one you are talking about, the electrical piece was already installed on the lock when I bought it, so I doubt that is out of place. The car starts of course, just won't move out of park and has the SBS light on.

Was looking at the repair proceedure for removing
the ignition lock/cylinder in Haynes and they say the
key has to be in one specific position when you remove/replace
the lock. If it's in any other position the shifter won't
work. Might be the cause of your problem.
