How do I install a simple dissconnect to the driveshaft to tow a 4 wheel drive station wagon. I badly want to buy a used wagon, but must be able to tow behind my RV.

i would be surprised if such hardware is available for a benz.

they have them for us made trucks and vans though. if you do a search for such a product you may find that they have one that will work for a benz too. i would think you would need one for the front and one for the back though.

or you could buy a stick wagon. there are a few around.

Since there is not a kit made up to fit a Mercedes, I think a good machine shop would easily cut and weld and fit that simple in and out clutch into your front or rear driveshaft. I had one on my Ford Ranger a number of years ago and it mounted near the rear "U" joint. They have only two positions to go into "lock up" and they are 180 degree apart. Even on the Ford, if I would lock it up in the wrong position, you could tell it from the vibs as soon as you reach 60/65 mph. And maybe on the Benz you would loose that fine driveline smoothness with it mounted. But if you keep the factory balance and then add the clutch, you probably wouldn't loose much.
