W124 TE rear fog light question

Does anyone know when the rear fog lights on the wagon comes on? Theoretically it should come up with the front fog lights, but mine is not working. I just happened to read the owner's manual when I was replacing a bulb to realize there is a fog light back there. I don't ever remember seeing it work. The bulb is working, I swapped it out with another socket. Thanks.
