Did I Find the "Stumbling" Cause???
Put a couple bottles each of Heet and Techron in the SL today and drove up to I-10 to blow it out. Made a back-and-forth between two exits about thirteen miles apart. Kicked it into third at about 65 and ran it up to 90+ a half-dozen times. Then pulled off on the apron three or four times and did three or four dead-stop 0-~100mph runs. Ran like a top.
Went back to the house and parked it for an hour or so. Got in it to go to church and it still stumbled on start-up. When we pulled up I heard what I thought was the fuel pump humming pretty good. Got out and checked just to make certain. Sure enough. Got in it to come home and the fuel pump was quiet as a mouse. So, is the fuel pump going out or not? It was quiet before the run and on the way home this evening. Only that one instance of the hum. I'm thinking the fuel pump is probably on the way out and needs replacing, along with the fuel filter and, possibly, the fuel accumulator. Shared insights appreciated. Thanks!
