Does it help to clean the MAF? Is it really possible to clean the MAF as others have suggested? I read the article below and it sounds very promising? http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MVC-056St.jpg&imgrefurl=http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_S500.html&h=490&w=650&sz=63&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=FCrHHyQaDor6pM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmaf%2Bmercedes%2BE320%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den
HAS anyone tried this and what was your experience? I would hate to dish out $300 if this can be done. I have already bought the radio Shack fluid as is mentioned in the article but have not yet started the cleaning process. When I do this would are there any precautions that I need to take? Thanks guys and you all have been great in helping out the new kid on the block. |

Not sure if my MAF is exactly the same as yours, but my Check Engine Light threw a code for the MAF about six months ago. I cleaned mine using electrical contact cleaner, maybe DeOxit? Reset the code and all has been fine since.

Designo_E320,
I have used the CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner, and it works. My 'story' was I contaminated the MAF sensor when I replaced the twin air filters. Residual dirt/dust got on the sensor from the filter change and when I reasoned out what must have happened, while looking for electrical contact cleaner at AutoZone, right next to it was the new MAF Sensor Cleaner. If you follow the instructions on the can, this stuff works and will leave no residue. Note: I did not disconnect the neg side of the battery prior to pulling the sensor as the article talked about. Just used t-20 Torx Tamper Resistant bit to undo the sensor and spray. Bob
