I recently purchased a 1986 560 sl, with 129k miles, that had some obvious suspension problems that I thought would be easily solved. I have had replaced the motor mounts, subframe bushings, lower ball joints, both tie rod ends, front bilstein shocks, the steering shock and the idler arm bushings. All of this has been a big waste of time and much money. The car has not been wrecked or otherwise altered. The problem is that every little bump in the road is felt as if the frame is cracked. It has been inspected. All of the shaking is felt in the steering wheel. I have owned over 10 mercedes and this is the first to not have a good ride. The ride is smooth until I hit a bump. HELP! I would like to keep this car but I am cosidering cutting my loses.
