I need to remove the sunroof headliner in my '91 300CE. Two of the four clips in the front, leading edge of the headline have broken off and the headliner sags a bit in the middle section.
I thought that you could just pop the remaining clips and pull the headliner through the sunroof opening. The question is what to do wiht the rear attachment point. How is the sunroof headliner attached at the rear? BTW, by "sunroof headliner" I am referring only to the headliner panel that covers the sliding steel sunroof. Thanks. (Maybe I'll post pics laters if it will help.) Thanks again...

77-050 Removal and install of headlining on sunroof
Here's what's in the 124 sevice manual CD:
Removal 1. Unclip sun roof headlining at front with sun roof ¾ open (4 clips). 2. Completely open sun roof. 3. Pull out sun roof head lining in forward upward direction. 4. Check upper halves of clips on sun roof headlining. 5. Check lower halves of clips on sun roof. Installation 1. Close sun roof and set both sliding parts horizontally. 2. Completely open sun roof. 3. Slip in roof head lining from front top until clips are abutting against sun roof, at the same time introducing tube into protective tube on sun roof head lining. 4. Close sun roof by half and fasten sun roof headlining at front audibly with four clips. Hope it helps, Dave |
