Exclamation Trouble starting W140

93 300SE. For the last couple weeks I've occasionally been having trouble getting it to start. I turn the key and nothing happens, the radio and other accessories do not power of as they should when the starter engages, just nothing. Checked all the wires to the starter, no problem there. Checked all the fuses, all good. Removed the trim under the driver side dash to access the ignition solenoid and messed with the wires for a bit and eventually it started. I'm tentative to put the dash back together because I’ve not really fixed anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know how much an ignition switch might cost if I have to replace it?

Maybe someone could chime in here, but isn't this a symptom of a bad wiring harness. And wasn't this engine known for that?

If there was a thread about this it escapes me. I've not really had any other wiring type problems to date but I'm at 217000 miles. thinking it has something to do with the ignition switch because when it acts up does the same thing it would be doing if I were to attempt to start it in Park or drive. This kind of problem really bothers me because while it has quit acting up, I just know as soon as I get it put back together it's gonna happen again when I least expect.

Check on the connector block, if any, from the ignition switch down.
