Key Wont Turn In 93 400e

Is this a tumbler problem? They will unlock any entry point, so by logical deduction the key is still good, right? So it has to be a tumbler? Why after 13 years why the key all of a sudden not turn when in the ignition? has the anti-theft mechanism been activated??
