I need some help with my interior trim. I am trying to put a dash cap on my 1983 300SD. I need to remove the inside post trim that runs up both sides of the front windshield. I can’t figure out how to remove them. I can’t find any screws to unscrew to remove it. I tried to gently pry them up and out but that does not seem to be the trick.
I would be indebted if someone could give me a tip on how to remove them. Thanks….. |

I just pulled the dash on my 76 300d. the pillar covers are attached with spring metal s-shaped clip that fits into a slot in the sheetmetal. I had to pull mine back towards me while prying them over the fabric that covers the edge of the door opening. I broke one clip in the process.

I just pry them off gently, perpendicularly from the pillar. Good idea to buy some spare clips, the existing ones tend to break off if you pull them in the wrong direction. Ask me how I know.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try prying them off and buy some clips to be safe....
