I took my car to mb dealership three times for the check enegine light over a six month period each time they error they said was a kick down cable and that it needed to be replaced so they first time we replaced it and then one month later the check enegine light comes on again and the say the same error code kick down cable needs to be adjusted so they adjust then again the check enegine light comes on meanwhile we are driving the car with out any problems. Now the check enegine light is on again they say it is the same kick down cable on tuesday now thursday comes and they say we need a brand new transmission due to internal errors. Im not sure if all along they were telling me they wrong thing all along or if the transmission really went out. Please help! mb dealer wants 7500 parts and labor for a new transmission!

sounds like a misdiagnosis to me. where are you located? try fing a competent independent shop nearby. do you know the specific code they retrieve?

Hard to know if they are corrupt or inept or both but you should not be taking your car to this dealer anymore. You could try a search here and learn how to read the fault codes. It's not likely that you have a serious problem.

You most likely have a code 26, which is a common trans code for delayed shift. Do a search on "Code Retrieve "
Your chassis has easy access to the CE lamp codes under the hood. Get the code and post it and we will tell you what we think the remedy is.

there is a test done by the vehicle electronics on cold start and i believe the shift delay is supposed to hold 2nd gear until 30mph before change to 3rd.this is achieved by vacuum which causes trans cable to be tighter and this holds gear until 30.the electronics check for this and if does'nt happen sets code and cel light comes on.driver will notice no diff in way car drives.

Lkie I said , code 26/delay shift fault. A defective cable element at trans is the most common fault for this code.
Get the codes first. Under the hood, black box in front of battery

Candgurl - Welcome to the Forum. The people that have responded to your post are some of the vey best on the forum. Finding the code errors on your car are well documented here and a simple search using either Arthur Dalton's name or just something like 'code 26' will keep you busy and allow you to learn much about your car.
