Does anyone know the exact procedure and tools
necessary on checking and or replacing the engine sensors (e.g. temperature sensors, etc)? Want to check these on my 85 500SEC, but don't know what the procedure is, or how to replace them. I'm thinking of replacing all of them, since I suspect that one or more of them may be bad (temp.fluctuations, etc), and wanted to know the exact procedure for doing this. Can anyone tell me what the major ones are, and what I should be looking for to warrant replacement? Also, how do you properly test the engine fan clutch on this car? Thanks in advance for your replies! |

CD-ROM
Get a CD-ROM for your car. The data, including resistance values vs temperature are including.
This way you can test them with just an ohmmeter. If the value of the ECT is ok at, say 20C, then most likely it's a good sensor. Check ALL-DATA/PM for a CD: Here's the link:http://popularmechanics.com/popmech/shop/CDROMP.html |
