Question Dexron-III replacement for 126 transmissions

Now that Dexron-III is out, what are you using in your 126 transmissions?

Not interested at all in anything synthetic.

I'm using Dex/Merc III which I can readily find @ all my Mcparts stores...or, if you are Really concerned you can always go w/ the Febi stuff.

Synthetic is always an option as well, be it M1, Amsoil etc, etc..

Dex/Merc III is no longer available in my area. Febi is way over-priced + hard to find locally and as I eluded to in my opening post, synthetic is not an option for me.

The patent/licensing for Dexron-II has expired and is no longer available under that labeling. If you have access to it, I suspect your local retailer still has a stash, similar to the Bosch H9DC/H9DC0 situation.

Dexron IV/V/VI are available now and there are all sorts of opinions as to which one of these replaces Dexron-III.

GM stopped issuing the liscence however the product is still avalible like along the lines of the Supertech and Chevron versions called MD3.

Same stuff.

BTW,Dexron IV is out now and you can use it in Dex III applications.

But you asked about III, not II. III is still widely available.

Meant to say III - sorry, left off an I.

III is available IF someone in your area has a stockpile of it around. It's no longer mfg'd as III.

Google Dexron-III and you'll see that it and MERCON-III are no longer packaged as such.

Went to castrol.com and dug up the following:

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_internet/castrol/castrol_usa/STAGING/local_assets/downloads/p,q/pds_ImportMV.pdf

Whether or not "Sheet 236.x" pertains to my 126 transmission is another story.

Interesting, I've been running Valvoline Max life DM III which they now call something else, but the took look and thus far seem to act exactly the same. The note @ the McParts stated that they were changing the name and nothing else..

I got the same info by word of mouth, once during a recent visit to Auto Zone and earlier today, calling around to all of the other McParts places.

From what I've been able to decipher, you have to read the bottle thoroughly in order to decide if it's contents are an acceptable replacement for Dexron-III.
