Anyone convert an early ('96-99) W210 to later ('00-02)?

I'm not looking for a full-on conversion, just the different front-end look of the later W210. To me it just looks more modern and streamlined than the early W210's, like my E300. Does anybody know if the bumper, headlamps, and hood can be swapped? I'm guessing there might also be issues with the front fenders because of the different headlamps. Once the front is done, the side mirrors and brake lights can be easily updated.

I'm posting this here because I figure there aren't many 00-02 W210's over in Diesel Land...

My guess is that it can't be done.

The entire hood and grill was redesigned in 2000 to take advantage of smaller size of the V6 engine relative to the straight 6, which is shorter and sits lower in the engine bay, allowing for a more aerodynamic front end (lower drag co-efficient).

I don't know if the headlights are the same, but they sure look alike.

What I would do if I were you is to install the front bumper / air dam from a '96-'99 Sport model. It is not exactly the same as the facelifted '00-'02 models, but looks a lot better than the plain '96-'99 front end.

The side skirts and rear bumper are also different, and look great.

Here is a link to a '98 E430 Sport on ebay with some great pics:

Difficult

The front supports and A-pillar were dramatically changed after 1999 to produce a safer crash test result - in response to average 1997 crash test. The setup underneath panels is different on facelifted 2000-2002 models.
