Benz C280 ovp replaced still wont start

recently my '94 C280 would stall for no reason, at times i can just be idle at a light and it would stall other times when gasing it would stall as well. To start the car back up it could take up to 3-5mins from locking the car unlocking it, opening the trunk etc...im not sure if this is the process to start it..or just wait it out..h

anyways i replaced the OVP today and the same issue, right off the bat after replacing the OVP the car would not start.

i want to say this was a fuelpump issue but when the car does NOT start, i can turn the radio on there is a digital display but no music...also you cannot roll the windows down, headlights work...but no A/C or windows or moving the seats electronically.

Does anyone know what else could be wrong?

thanks in advance.

Question you have checked fuses up to 11/94 fuses20&21 after 12/94 build fuses 21 and 26 under hood. fuse 26 is tied to radio and seat relay. Or maybe an Ignition switch. Tim

Check that you have the new OVP fully plugged into the connector..you have to hold the harness to get a solid plug-in...

does anyone know the "Green relay" in the trunk of the car behind the battery has anything to do with this?

The green relay in trunk closest to spare is the k27 fuel pump relay,is fed by fuse 18 in trunk up to 11/1994. Tim

i doubled checked the OVP and it is all the way in...

could the OVP cause the NO radio (but has digital display), can't move electronic seats or windows down?

Does the car not CRANK or not START..big difference in diagnosing the two complaints , as they are entirly different.

it cranks every single time but doesn't turnover.
the only time it does NOT crank is if i have the hood UP.

thanks again for everyones help..it's been a nightmare.

again the very strange thing is windows don't electronically go down or seats, or radio (has digital display with channel FM/AM display) no sound.

Cranking and turning over are generally both used to mean that the starter spins the engine but the engine does not begin to run on its own.

Starting generally menas that the engine begins to run on its own.

Which is yours doing?

And it does not crank with the hood up?

Are you pulling our legs?

If not, perhaps you have some sort of security system problem.

i can't seem to find the security system but i assumed it was as well on the C280. with the Hood up i didn't hear any cranks...the moment i closed the hood it started to crank but no turnover.
i was able to reproduce this a few times, just lifting the hood and turning the key there was NO crank. i just assumed this is some sort of security system on the c280. my Remote does not work no more and hasn't functioned over 2+yrs.

Look at the fuse box legend..the fuse you want should say ATA/Alarm...or it may say K38 relay

been a while since i responded but i replaced Fuse#5 to no avail.

The car did start somehow but was not consistent.

i wanted to find out how everyone's OVP is mounted. i noticed theres a missing screw to hold it in place. im not sure if there is some grounding mechanism and thats why the car is randomly not starting?
