possible purchase 1995 e320
hey guys.. was thinking of buying a 1995 e320, has just over 100,000 miles and is in excellant condition inside and out, of course there is a problem.. the car was running hot on the owner, so he parked it about 5 months ago.. he said the car was running great until this happened all of a sudden... he said the gauge was showing hot so he parked it and had it towed home , where it has sat
the good news is , he is wanting about 1,000.00 bucks for the car and is negotiable, just basically wants it off his property.. what should i be looking for? sounds like a water pump to me? i dont have much experiance with benz's , but have worked on a variety of other cars... was thinking this might be a good father son project, since the cash outlay will be low .. give me a run down guys on what i should be looking for on this model and year, and thoughts ...when i personally go and look at the car, i have until wensday to gather some info |

This is easy - has the engine been ruined or has it not been ruined? I'm guessing the seller knows more than they are letting on - and that you're going to need a new engine. If not it's a no-brainer.

If the head is warped or cracked--then your purchase will be instantly way more expensive. But, the price is EXTREMELY tempting!! See if you can find out more info from the owner. Service records? Will it start/run at all? How many times did it overheat?
I'd be interested to know how you make out, and IF you buy it--post some pics... Just use common sense and caution... -GH |
