Awesome MPG from 2000 E320!

A couple of days ago I took my son to Pensacola, FL to see the Blue Angels during one of their practice sessions. It was the first road trip that I have taken our recently aquired 2000 E320 on so I was interested to see how it did on the highway. I set the cruise on 75 mph going down to Pensacola and filled up shortly after we arrived. I ran the numbers and got 32.3mpg much to my disbelief!! The next day, after the air show and the museum tour (of which I highly recommend to anyone that hasn't been there), we left Pensacola and I set the cruise on 80 mph, and ran her hard all the way to Atlanta. I got 28.2 when I filled up in Atlanta. I'm so impressed with that car on the highway. My back was fine after 5+ hours of being in it and it got great mileage in 90+ degree heat with the A/C blasting both ways. This was just a thumbs up for our 210 model with 105K miles on it. I was also wondering if other owners typically see higher or lower mileage on trips then what my I saw on ours. Thanks all for this forum!!

I get about 21 mpg around town with my 97 E320, though it has a different, less efficient engine than yours (M104). I have yet to take it on a highway-only trip, but I venture to say it would be in the high 20s.

My 104 powered W124 got 29+ on mostly highway travel. I would think the W210 should break 30 since it's more aerodynamic than the 124.

The 99E430 W210 gets 26+ highway.

I returned 29 MPG highway with my 104 with the ac on a few summers back. I think I'm around 23ish mixed driving now. It's about time for new wires and plugs, so I'll see if it improves then.

Didn't think to try that one Manny....

Sounds like others are getting close to the same mileage as I did. Last week I drove a Honda Hybrid for several days. To me the mileage was unimpressive for the size of vehicle and power that it had. 37 on the highway and around 39 in the city. It was a nice little car but I expected the mileage to be a lot better then it was. I'll stick with my E320 for what little I'm sacrificing in overall mileage....

I had a 95 E320 that used to get around 29 on the highway and 24 around town so yours doesn't sound like it's out of tune a whole lot.

If I could, I'd trade my home TV chair at for a front seat from my 400SE. Comfort is one of those things we paid a premium $ for, eh? Glad you enjoyed it, though

Don't even consider putting jet fuel into a gasoline engine. It's closer to diesel, and I assume that you know what diesel fuel will do to your car. If not, don't find out via experimentation.

No worries Matt, Manny and I were just joking with each other...
