Tail Lamp Problem

2004 C240 sedan.

The tail, parking, and side marker lamps (same bulb on both sides) are not working. The dashboard display lists 2 malfunctions related to this problem.

The bulbs are good - I took them out and tested them.

I opened the fuse box panel. Inside is a sheet listing all of the fuse functions. None of the external lights have fuses! For each of the external lights, the sheet says "electronic".

Can somebody tell me what this means - beside the fact that there is no way that I can fix this problem myself? I am guessing that there is a control module somewhere in the vehicle. I hope it's not integrated into the ECM.

Willie R.
