SRS Light on ...

I've searched and read a bunch of posts but can't find one that is the same issues I'm having...

2000 E55

SRS light is on when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. The Airbag light on the center console is also on as it should be. When I sit in the passenger seat, the Airbag light goes out and then the SRS light goes out after about 5 seconds. When I get up, the Airbag light goes on immediately (like it should) and then about 10 seconds later, the SRS light comes on.

I unplugged the connectors under the seat and plugged them all back in but no change.

Any help is appreciated,

Kevin

If my memory serves me right, there was an issue with the seatbelt buckles.
Have you checked with your dealer on this?

The SRS light stays on regardless of the seatbelt being buckled or not. I have a feeling that it's the seat pressure pad that tells the system that someone is sitting in the seat. But then it confuses me that the SRS light go out when someone is actually sitting in the seat... The little Airbag light on the center console also goes out when someone is sitting in the seat... strange.

My neighbor has the Star Diagnostics Program so I'll see if it shows a code to point to what is causing the light.

Thanks.

I would have to agree that it's the seat pad sensor.

I had a problem with my SRS light staying on and I was afraid how much it was going to cost me to fix it, so I lived with it. Of course I couldn't pass inspection with it that way, so I put that off until I got a ticket. I took it into my mechanic and he reset the computer and it never came back on. The ticket cost me $175 bucks.
