Power Window won't go up '83 W123

I've searched but haven't found a complete answer for my problem. The console switch used to work periodically until I cleaned it so I thought it was the problem but when I swapped it with the right side switch it worked ok. The door switch moved down for a split second then nothing. I thought it might be a child safety interlock so I sat in the back seat and it worked going down from the door switch but not up. The accordian wire shield between the door and body is intact. Whats the fix here? What can I do to hotwire the motor to go up if I can't fix it in the mean time.

Any other dead windows? Namely the back window on the opposite side? If so, check your fuses. In fact, check them anyways, sometimes hairline cracks do funny things.

No, no. All other windows are working normally.

you can test the motor with a battery direct. Swapping the green and black to pos and neg raises and lowers. If the motor works, you'll probably need to strip in new wires at the door hinge area. That's what I just did to fix mine.

Just to clarify. Even if the accordian piece at the door hinge is in tact, 20+ years of opening and closing the door breaks the wires inside the sheathing. Mine were broken so bad, they looked shattered into about 5 segments each for the 4 wires.

Yeah, the years take there toll don't they. I was able to get the door switch out and reseat the plug on the back. That was enough to get the window to roll up when I used the console switch. It was really weak and surging on its way back up so I'll not be using that window often. Thanks for the input. Its much appreciated.
