i have a small delima, not sure if anything wrong with tranny but when it shifts geers it jumps, its like a 2 second gap, i feel the clutch detach, and then it just slams into geer jerks the car, peals out tires and flies further, is this a problem or is this how its supposed to drive? anything i can do to fix it to be smooth? maybe a flush? i dont think any work has been done to this car for the last 20 years

What's a second gab? some say don't flush a tranny after its accrued a lot of miles without any flushes, but I have done this with good results. You might want to look at your flex discs too.

Is there a special tool to adjust the trans modulator?

you might take a good look at the modulator.it has a black rubber cap covering the adjustment and i bet it's cracked or the vacuum line rubber is off or broken.
