300E radiator drain plug HELP!?
I went to install a radiator in mint condition that I happened to snag out of a junk car for like $20. However, I noticed the drain plug was somewhat screwed up, so after much labor, I finally removed it only to find that the drain plug was not the same as the one on my old radiator. The old radiator plug was red, and this one was white, with what looked to be the same style as the red one, just different thread sizes. The radiator is a Behr, and I have looked on the buy parts link for another one, but to no avail - across all the models. The radiator was removed from a 300e like mine. Please help - why is there a white drain plug, and will the blue one be a perfect substitute, it looks like it has the same threads as the white one.

Me too, have only ever seen red. What was wrong with the white one that made you remove it?

The white one was broken (where you turn it to loosen it, and I needed to be able to flush the system, then I couldn't tighten it back up to prevent it from leaking steady droplets of water). It has the same threading as the blue ones online, but is built like the red ones. Its very odd.

Just reinstall the broken one, if it was working properly, then flush through the bottom radiator hose neck instead.

The problem is the broken one is now more broken than before, because I was able to loosen it, but not tighten it back up, I ended up wedging a screw driver into the plastic piece with a hammer and cranking the broken one out. Upon inspection, the broken one would never have held anyways. Oh well, looks like I'll be off to another junkyard where I spied an awesome looking brand new behr radiator in a 260E.

I'd follow Manny's advise and seek a radiator shop. Pull the rad. out - take it to the shop - explain what you've done. You could end up with a "leaker" irrespective of how any plug fits. I'm basing this on the "wedging a screw driver" thing. Just my 2 cents.
