1993 190E How to remove ign tumbler assy

Hello All:

Nice forum - my first post! The ign key will not turn at times. We have been spraying it with cleaners and lubes to get a few extra days use BUT we are on our last few turns. My guess is that the lock/tumbler assembly is worn out.

My problem / guestions are:
  • How do you remove the ign lock / tumbler from the steering columb?
  • What purpose, if any, do the two holes on the crome ring where you put in the ign key serve?
  • Can the lock tumbler assy be removed without removing any of the bezels under the steering wheel? Some other posts mention a release pin for other year 190's. Does this 1993 190E need to have this pin axcessed and pushed in???
  • Is this part avalailable (key and lock tumbler assy) in the aftermarket?
Thanks for your help,
RJC
