96 SL600 Transmission Fluid Recomendations

I'm looking for a suitable Transmission fluid for my 96 SL600. The factory approved service products guide I have appears to be outdated and none of the fluid except Redline seam to be available. Can anyone recomend a transfluid that is available in the CT area and will work with the 96 SL600. Preferably something cheaper than Red Line.

Thank You
John Roncallo

Dealer is likely cheaper than Redline.

Which trans do you have 722.362 or 722.621?

That's a good question! I, too, own a '96 SL600 but am unsure which transmission I have. How do I find out?

Thanks M.B.Doc. But how would an owner find out the transmission number on their own?

As you both have the 722.6xx you have two choices of fluids; the MB fluid for the 722.6 or the newer fluid used in the 722.9xx.

MB 7-speed transmission fluid (MB 236.12)

When I change mine I intend to use the newer product.
