W124 Ride Height question...

How high does the front of your W124 sit? I had the front struts done in my car, and now the bottom of the fender is about 7 inches to the top of the tire......

Anyone know/think that this is too tall?

WAY too high Justin. Sounds like they put too many springs in there.

They didnt touch the springs. My indy only replaced the front struts....

One of my buddies said I should have it aligned, and that would fix it.

I am still scratching my had as to how it rides that high.

Pete, if you wouldn't mind, can you measure the height between the top of your tire and the bottom of your fender?

My mom and dad are "in dispute" with me that the car is supposed to have a 7 inch gap above the tire.

I dont think that its supposed to have a gap like that, but they assure me that it is supposed to be like that.

Actually, there is about 4-5 inches there. To the inner fender there is about 6 inches.

Ok, after doing research, the stock height from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender lip should be at about 14.25-15 inches.... Mine is at about 16.5 inches. Seems a bit high, dont it?

Justin,,, I have just a tad under 2 inches from the top of the tire to the bottom lip of the fender on the 320. 2 1/2 inches on the 400. 7 inches is unreal.

The struts are pressurized and push the front end up. Your new ones must apply more pressure than the old.

My '91 rode higher after I changed the struts, too. But not as high as yours, sounds like.

Post a pic.

Maybe it was riding low and someone compensated by putting different spring pads in?

I dont know, its just frustrating with my car looking like this.

I argued with my parents over this subject on the phone earlier...

Conversation went

Mom "Do you want to have a low rider or something?"
Me "No"
Mom "Well, its not a racecar."
Me "I know, but its not an SUV either."

I dont know... SirNik84 saw it earlier, and he says it looks funny. It looks funny to me. It looks normal to my mom and dad though. So we will see I guess.

Also could be wrong strut?
